A study on wage and salary income dynamics of the National Basic Livelihood Security recipients
Kim Won-Jung

Abstract
This study classifies National Basic Livelihood Security(NBLS) recipients into three groups according to the change of welfare status, and examines dynamics of wage and salary income through growth curve model. Data used for this analysis is the data of Korean Welfare Panel Study from 2st wave to 9th wave. Main findings are summarized as follows. First, the welfare-exit group earned more than the welfare-entry group when occurring the change of welfare status, and the gap of wage and salary income between two groups kept increasing since the year before occurring the change of welfare status. Second, the level of wage and salary income of the welfare-exit group significantly increased, but that of the welfare-entry group significantly decreased before the entry to NBLS. Third, not among those three groups but also within group, the significant factors of the intercept and slope of wage and salary income are different. With these results, this study suggests that group-specific approaches based on types of welfare recipients may be more effective and studies focusing on institutional specific context be needed.
